Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Introduction
This is the fourth in the “Be Ye Therefore…” series. In this passage of scripture Jesus has just told His followers to love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, be ye therefore merciful. Then He tells us why… because our Father in heaven is merciful and we are children of the Highest. And He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. This is the second time in this series that Christ is essentially reminding us to be like Him. Mercy is an attribute of God’s character.
Remember Where the Lord Brought You From
No matter how much time passes from the moment you were first birthed into the family of God, always remember where the Lord brought you from. This will help you love sinners and be humble in dealing with sinful brothers and sisters. Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. (Galatians 6:1 KJV) We are to seek restoration first when dealing with fellow believers that have strayed in sin. We are never to be self righteous, for apart from Christ we are nothing and are just as likely to stray as they are.
Christ once gave the example of the servant who was forgiven of a great debt of ten thousand talents by his king. But instead of that mercy changing his life, the servant went out to one who owed him a much smaller sum of one hundred pence and had him imprisoned in order to extract what he felt was due him. When the king heard how the servant treated his debtor after the king had showed mercy, he was wroth with the servant saying he was wicked in not showing the same kindness and mercy that the king had shown him.
Final Thought
Friend, you and I owed a debt of sin that we could not pay. Christ our Lord has not just given us more time to pay our debt, but has forgiven us of that debt. Yea, He has justified us (As I’ve heard it put, JUSTIFIED – Just as if I’d never sinned). Christ died for us while we were yet sinners, enemies of God. Dear Christian brothers and sisters, if you would dare in these last days to be what the word Christian actually means, be ye therefore merciful as your Father has been merciful to you.

From one servant to another: I agree, our time is best spent in uplifting one another instead of kicking a person when he is down. The Lord has been so merciful to us, how cannot we do the same for others? I am finding it easier and easier to be merciful, as I learn more about Jesus, and how he lived while on this earth. What an example! He was so genuine. I hope when others are touched by my efforts, it is Him they see.

Amen sister. For His glory. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23) Like the moon, we should reflect the ‘Son’ 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

I will absolutely think on these things. And actually its very freeing knowing God is taking care of all. I dont want that role. And no one i know is equipped to even be His counsel. Maybe His Servant. ?? 😃😃
